I totally agree with you- I haven't had either for yrs now- plus as I work nights I wouldn't be home to watch anything anyways.

the Money one spends on cable/satellite you can Buy or Rent What you want and watch it When you want- it's even better if you have some stores near you that sell Used dvds- I have been able to buy a full seasons of tv shows for $20 or less!

I just have an indoor antenna & my convertor box for my tv and I am fine with that.

Each TV needs its own receiver and there is no reason to upgrade the receivers which are attached to the regular TVs although, if you do upgrade, it does have an S-video output. However, all you need is to do is just get the one HD receiver or HD DVR for the HDTV.

I like it for old and good movies on TCM and IFC and I like old shows like Twilight Zone and I Love Lucy and Three's Company that you wouldn't find on regular TV. I also enjoy the educational value of channels like Discovery and Animal Planet.

I would think that competition would keep them close but from what I've heard Directv has the more complete packages with many channels standard that Dish charges more for.

THE CABLE COMPANY SUCKS

What fried it for me is they are going to start charging monthly rental fees for each jack you have in your house!!! WTF??? $6.99 for your 'main" TV and $3.99 for each additional TV you might have in your house

I only have TV because of my kid, when he's gone, so's the TV.

TV today reminds me of those very prophetic novels "1984" and "Fahrenheit 451"
