I have two regular tv's and one that I just bought that is HDTV. If I upgrade to the HD satellite receiver ?
Written by admin on January 5, 2009 – 9:34 pm -from Directv how will the reception/picture quality be on my two regular tv's?
Each TV needs its own receiver and there is no reason to upgrade the receivers which are attached to the regular TVs although, if you do upgrade, it does have an S-video output. However, all you need is to do is just get the one HD receiver or HD DVR for the HDTV.

Which TV satellite carrier is better — Dish Network or DirecTv? ?
Written by admin on January 4, 2009 – 7:33 pm -Which satellite carrier is a better deal? We've had Dish Network for 6 years, but the receiver is broken. Do we purchase a new DishNetwork receiver and stick with them, or should we switch to DirecTV, who offers equipment/install/etc free of initial charge?
Thanks! Appreciate any advice on this one…it's so frustrating.
I would think that competition would keep them close but from what I've heard Directv has the more complete packages with many channels standard that Dish charges more for.

If your monitor has a DVI input, you can get a DVI to HDMI cable or adaptor.
Otherwise use component.

An initial screen guide to what you’ll see when you set up your Quantum Box for the first time.
Done in a format that you can pause/rewind etc and should be almost identical for every setup.
Part two soon…

How do I hook up 5 directv receivers including one HD DVR with 2 inputs?
Written by admin on December 22, 2008 – 2:38 pm -I want to get the new style dish that covers all 5 satellites. I have one HDTV and will be getting a new HD DVR for that tv and just regular receivers for 4 other tv's in the house. What kind of multiswitch can I use, or what would be recommended for this setup? I guess I would need 2 lines running to the DVR and then the additional 4 line to the other tv's. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I have not seen the new dish, so I don't know if it has 2 or 4 lines coming out of it, probably 4. DirecTv dvr's have 2 tuners so you do need a line for each tuner, plus one line to each of the other 4 tuners, 6 lines total. I would suggest you get a powered multi-switch with a 4 line in and 8 line out for your system, I don't believe a 4 in to 6 out is made. That is what I use, but a powered multi-switch cost about $125.00 and up depending on the make.
