Recommend Direct TV, satellite dish or cable for short-term TV service? ?
Written by admin on November 6, 2008 – 7:42 am -We are moving out due to a remodel and renting a place for 3-4 months: just need to have TV access. (no internet) Want to get the least expensive & most reliable service available. Educated opinions only, please.
DirectTV and Dish BOTH require 2 year contracts, so scratch those off your list. Cable or good ol’ antenna are the best ways to go.

We have DirecTV and love it. But it’s really going to depend on whether or not some of these places ask you to sign a contract for a set amount of time. I know with DirecTV we had to sign a contract for a year, but because we got it through Verizon, it may be different.

Why not just do without? Read a book. Go to a museum. You said "we" right? Make love with your husband. You're outdoor girl, right, so, hike or bike!
There's nothing on tv anyway. "Reality" tv shows that aren't real, and this one guy saying hope and change and this other guy saying maverick. And comedies that aren't funny. And football games with blown calls. You're not missing anything.

I have direct TV in NJ I don’t like it any more than cable. Seems Direct TV offers a format for pay per view- Cost is better with cable.
The digital channels are out now and there is little cost to the converter for 3-4 months I would go with rabbit ears (you need the digital converter after 2/17).

Got Direct, had cable and not use rabbit ears in Ohio. My time in NJ with Direct as a comparison has me wondering why anyone should pay for tv.

Regular cable is likely to not require a commitment. Satellite will require one, except possibly if you buy the hardware outright at full price.
There is the option of antenna, free to use, maybe $100 in hardware investment.
